2 week trip of Honshu and Kyushu

Stay in Shinjuku and visit Gyoen National Garden, Harajuku for Meiji Shrine, Totcho building for views, dinner at Omoide-yokocho, TeamLabs, Asakusa for Senso-ji and tea ceremony experience, Toyosu fish market and possibly see some kabuki theatre. Stay in Shinjuku for 2 nights and enjoy some Tokyo nightlife

Fly to Kumamoto and stay in Mt aso caldera. Ride / drive around Aso stunning scenery, visit Kokonoe suspension bridge, take a hot spring, look into the crater of Mt Aso, visit the source of the Shira River, visit the impressive Takahicho gorge, Harajiri Falls and have a dinner party with the friendly locals of Ume town in Oita. Kyushu is the perfect antidote to the busy cities on Honshu. Stay in hot spring resort for 2 nights and 1 night in a log cabin in Ume.

Take the bullet train from Kumamoto to Hiroshima to see the atomic dome museum and Miyajima shrine on Itsukushima island. Stay in Hiroshima for 2 nights

Another bullet train ride to Himeji to see the ancient castle before heading on to Osaka, Japan's 3rd largest city. Visit Dotomburi and Shinsaibashi shopping areas, Umeda sky building and have a kendo / taiko drumming experience and Japanese cooking fun! Stay near Osaka station for 3 nights. Enjoy some nightlife

From Osaka, have a day trip to Nara to see the large Buddha in Todaiji, have a rickshaw ride around the city of Nara and feed the deer.

Kyoto - Japan's ancient capital city - visit Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kiyomizudera, Kenninji, Chion-in, Yasaka Shrine, Kinkaku-ji, Nijo castle and Higashi Hongan-ji. The sights are endless in Kyoto so here are some of the highlights. Stay in Kyoto for 2 nights near Gion district

Take the bullet train to Odawara and transfer to the area around Mt Fuji, for Hakone Ropeway and some glorious views of the mountain volcano. Spend the night in Gotemba and wake to the sight of Fuji from the hotel.

A day trip to Kamakura to see the shrines and Buddha or more time in Tokyo - as people wish. Stay the night in Tokyo

Back in Tokyo - some free time to explore the city at your leisure before departing home. Final night in Tokyo - farewell dinner and night on the town!!
